Liverpool's best wonderkids from Doak to Carvalho ranked according to FM23

The most promising youngers in Liverpool's squad have been ranked by Football Manager 2023, with Ben Doak predicted to become one of the best.

Released earlier this month, football simulation game Football Manager 2023 has been used by clubs across the globe, with its database of over 800,000 players and staff helping clubs with scouting and recruitment. Mohamed Salah was ranked by FM23 as the second-best player in the Premier League and the joint fourth-best in the world after his impressive campaign last season.

Liverpool's academy has produced some exciting talents over the years with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones currently in the first team set-up at the club. And according to FM23, the Reds have some more big talents in the academy, with Doak tipped to become great.

So, who are the most promising talents at Liverpool, according to Football Manager 2023? Let's take a look.

The best wonderkids at Liverpool according to FM23

In Football Manager 2023, each player in the database is given a value out of 200 for both Current Ability and Potential Ability. Current Ability is how good the player is now, whilst Potential Ability is how good the player is tipped to be.

The best wonderkids are given a minus value for Potential Ability (PA), which gives them a potential ability range rather than a guaranteed PA rating which can be decided based on their development. A value of -10 means that the youngster could reach a Current Ability between 170/200 and 200/200, a value of -95 means that the youngster could reach a Current Ability between 160/200 and 190/200 and a value of -9 means that the youngster could reach a Current Ability between 150/200 and 180/200 etc.

Here are the best youngsters at Liverpool under the age of 21:

  • Ben Doak - 16 YO (-9 Potential Ability) - 150-180

  • Harvey Elliott - 19 YO (170 Potential Ability)

  • Fabio Carvalho - 19 YO (-85 Potential Ability) - 140-170

  • Kaide Gordon - 17 YO (-85 Potential Ability) - 140-170

  • Tyler Morton - 19 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Conor Bradley - 19 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Sepp van den Berg - 20 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Calvin Ramsay - 19 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Bobby Clark - 17 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Stefan Bajetic - 17 YO (-8 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Oakley Cannonier - 18 YO (-75 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Luke Chambers - 18 YO (-75 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Melkamu Frauendorf - 18 YO (-75 Potential Ability) - 130-160

  • Isaac Mabaya - 17 YO (-75 Potential Ability) - 130-160

Ben Doak has the highest Potential Ability in the entire Liverpool squad, with the youngster having the potential to have an ability rating of 180 on FM23. To put that into context, Salah is judged to be one of the best players in the game, and his Current Ability (CA) is 185/200, slightly higher than Doak's potential.

If Doak hit his potential ceiling of 180, he would become better than the CA's of Luis Diaz (166/200), Thiago (169/200), Diogo Jota (158/200), Darwin Nunez (150/200) and Roberto Firmino (155/200). Harvey Elliot has been given a set potential ability rating of 170, whilst Fabio Carvalho and Kaide Gordon are the next two most promising youngsters, both with a PA range of 140-170.

Summer signing Calvin Ramsay has a potential range of 130-160, and if the right-back was to hit his ceiling, it would match Trent Alexander-Arnold's current rating of 160/200. Stefan Bajetic has a PA range of 130-160, whilst Oakley Cannonier, who has starred for the Reds' youth teams this season also has a PA range of 130-160.
