Today is National Beer Day and a pub crawl might well be the best way to mark it.
Liverpool is not short of great pubs, both in and out of town. Here, we've compiled four of the best areas for a pub crawl, all packed with great options.
Whether it's the history and bohemian feel among the terraces of the Georgian Quarter, the business district's plethora of options just a stone's throw from your office, or suburbs packed with great pubs, there is something for everyone.

It is at this point that we should remind you to enjoy your pints responsibly. There are a lot of options suggested on all of these routes - not all of them need to stop at every possible option.
Georgian Quarter
The Georgian Quarter is packed with great pubs, most of which are in close proximity, ideal for a crawl. On the list should be a combination of The Grapes on Roscoe Street, The Philharmonic, Ye Cracke, The Cambridge, The Belvedere, The Caledonia, The Fly in the Loaf, The Pilgrim, The Blackburne, Peter Kavanagh's, the Pen Factory, the Casa and the Roscoe Head.
With great pubs in one of the most beautiful parts of the city - there's not much more you could ask for. Depending on your tolerance or bravery, you might even want to split the crawl, but there are plenty of options.
Woolton Village
The leafy suburb of Woolton is primed for a pub crawl. Working through its many establishments is no mean feat.
It is very easy to pass from pub to pub as you make your way through the village. In no particular order, on the agenda should be a combination of The Derby Arms, the Coffee House, The Victoria, The Cobden, The White Horse, the Gardeners Arms, The Grapes Inn, The Elephant and The Liberty Tavern.
You can also add in the nearby Gateacre trilogy of the Black Bull, the Bear and Staff and the Brown Cow, if you fancy a change of scene.
The Beer Quarter

Pubs around Dale Street and Liverpool's business district joined forces last year to create the 'Liverpool Beer Quarter'. It was designed to promote pubs in that corner of the city against a tough commercial backdrop.
Venues involved in the quarter are The Ship and Mitre, The Excelsior, Dead Crafty Beer Company, The Angus Tap & Grind, The Vernon Arms, The Saddle, The Denbigh Castle, The Lion Tavern, The Cross Keys and Shenanigans.
Featuring some of the most attractive and historic pubs in the city, this quarter makes for a great crawl.
Smithdown Road / Wavertree High Street

Smithdown and the High Street used to be home to many, many pubs. The Smithdown Ten was once a popular crawl route but lots of the pubs which made up the route are no longer with us.
However, the reinvention of Wavertree's drinking scene allows for a new, slightly different crawl.
Gone are a lot of traditional boozers, but some remain. The Brookhouse is still a student staple on Smithdown, while Kelly's Dispensary has the feel of a proper Irish pub and serves a pint of Guinness that competes with the best. The Willow Bank is also a popular spot, with its front garden catching the sun in the evening.
The Crafty Swine, Black Cat and the Handyman Supermarket have you covered for craft beer, while The Beeswing is popular for live music.
Crossing the Mystery park to the High Street gives you a number of options. Among them are the Barley Mow and The Cock and Bottle, while The Edinburgh is worth the short diversion to Sandown Lane.
