Liverpool have rubbed salt into Arsenal's wounds as they plan to hijack Mikel Arteta's pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni and Youri Tielemans.
The Gunners had a disastrous January transfer window as they failed to bring in any first-team reinforcements with a striker and a midfielder on the agenda.
Arsenal had a total of seven deals that collapsed throughout the month for one reason or another.
It was imperative they acquired a striker with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Barcelona on a free transfer, leaving them with only two out-and-out no.9s - Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette who are both out of contract in the summer.
Dusan Vlahovic rejected the north Londoners as a move for Alexander Isak failed to materialise with Arteta's men unwilling to pay his £75.4million release clause.

Arsenal scrambled for alternatives with a loan move for Alvaro Morata touted as Arteta tasked his assistant Miguel Molina with phoning Morata to convince him to join the north Londoners.
The Atletico Madrid striker opted to see out his Juventus loan move, which the Italians were reportedly willing to terminate, as returning to England did not appeal to him.
The Gunners then had one last throw of the dice with Mehdi Taremi of Porto who was reportedly offered to the Gunners on loan earlier in the window, according to CBS Sports.
Arsenal enquired to see if it was still on the table but Liverpool inadvertently interfered as their signing of Luis Diaz meant Taremi was no longer available.
Arteta has already turned his attention to the summer, however, when there will be more opportunities available to him.
Two players on the Spaniard's radar are Tchouameni and Tielemans.
football.london claims the groundwork has already been laid for the former after Arsenal's near-miss transfer last summer with the scouting department deciding that another year in Ligue 1 will benefit Monaco's rising star.
And Tielemans is at the top of Arteta's shortlist as he enters the final year of his current Leicester deal.
But Jurgen Klopp's are set to disrupt Arsenal's plans once again as they plot a double swoop worth £118m, according to Sunday World.
Brendan Rodgers insists he isn't worried about Tieleman's contract situation and still hopes he will extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.
"Youri is very happy here," Rodgers said in January 2022. "He has clearly developed and turned into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
"Clearly with a player with that quality and with the length of contract, he’s always going to be talked about. I can't worry about that.
"I know he is concentrated and very focused. We hope he will sign a new contract. He is a brilliant professional."
