Liverpool receive incredible airport welcome as squad arrive in Thailand for tour

The Liverpool squad received an incredible welcome as they arrived in Thailand for their pre-season tour.

The Reds will take on Manchester United on Tuesday before travelling to Singapore to face another Premier League side in Crystal Palace on Friday. Their pre-season schedule will then continue back in Europe with friendlies against RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg.

This is Liverpool's first tour since the pandemic struck back in 2020 and their first to the far east since 2017.

Large numbers of fans gathered at Suvarnabhumi International Airport to welcome the squad and catch a glimpse of their heroes for the first time in almost five years. There were plenty of cheers from supporters as the players emerged and made their way over to the team buses.

And there was also a huge media presence to take photos and ask questions. Jurgen Klopp held a brief press conference earlier today, alongside stars Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

The Manchester United squad arrived at Don Mueang International Airport on Friday and were also welcomed by fans. The two teams will meet early next week with kick off at 2pm BST on Tuesday July 12.

Both games in the far east will offer Jurgen Klopp the chance to assess his squad ahead of the new season and fans may be able to catch a glimpse of the summer signings in action.

Liverpool today confirmed 37 players have travelled for the first leg of their tour. The full list is here, with new recruits Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho included.
