Liverpool producer Colin McKeown's new drama series, Granite Harbour, was "challenging but worth the wait."
Colin is the executive producer behind the new series and also one of the founding fathers of one of the city's greatest television treasures, Brookside. Though a far cry from the soap opera, Granite Harbour is a gritty, action-packed series which follows Lance Corporal David Lindo as he arrives in Aberdeen as a new Police Scotland recruit.
The action kicks off from day one as Lindo is thrown into the deep end of investigating an oil tycoon's death. Airing tonight on BBC One, Colin said it was challenging yet worth it graft to pull the show together.

Production was located in Scotland which proved a new experience for the 70-year-old who is more at home with his Scouse surroundings. Discussing the shift to Aberdeen, he said: "It was totally new to us. We had to use a totally Scottish crew and cast. So that was new."
Granite House will take place across three parts which Colin claimed was more than enough time to flesh out the story and characters without watering down the viewers' experience. He added: "With some overarching stories they don't have the legs to stand on. Some stories don't have momentum so you're better off containing them.
"With this particular genre, we've been given a fairly meaty canvas. Three hours is a big story, sometimes people go too big and the story suffers because it's not sustainable but what we have here still gives a good amount of time for the characters and story to develop."
The show has already gone down a hit with fans in both private screenings and nationally as Scottish viewers got an earlier 24-hour release last night, before the rest of the United Kingdom. Admitting he enjoyed the challenges that were set before him and appreciating the results have paid off, he said: "I wouldn't want people portraying Liverpool in a way that wasn't faithful, truthful or inaccurate.
"We didn't want to do that to Aberdeen. We wanted to represent the city in a way that was honest and that was the challenge. That's what keeps you on your toes."
Colin's incredible work transcends viewers' praise as he was recently recognised by the Royal Television Society for his incredible work on Nail Bar Boys, a docuseries on Liverpool's male nail technicians.
Granite Harbour airs tonight on BBC One at 7 pm.
