Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Champions League football after Newcastle United beat Brighton & Hove Albion.
Eddie Howe’s side claimed a 4-1 win in their game in hand thanks to a Deniz Undav own goal, a Dan Burn header and late strikes from Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes. Undav was also on target at the right end for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
The victory moved Newcastle onto 69 points in the Premier League table, four points ahead of Liverpool, with just two games left to play. Manchester United remain one point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side, but they still have a game in hand on the Reds.
