Liverpool plot 'mind-boggling' transfer offer to tempt Morocco World Cup star to Anfield

Liverpool are looking to lure Sofyan Amrabat to the Premier League by offering him a major pay packet.

The Fiorentina midfielder has caught the eye with his performances at the World Cup with Morocco. The African nation, who beat Belgium at the weekend, are eyeing a knockout spot and Amrabat is putting himself firmly in the shop window ahead of the January market.

The 26-year-old only earns €1.8million-a-year (£1.56m) in Florence and could receive substantially more if he were to move to Anfield. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim a pay increase could turn Amrabat's head whilst they also highlight the Champions League football on offer at Liverpool

Fiorentina cannot match the Reds off the field or on it, making retaining their star a tough ask. Tottenham have also been credited with interest and were reportedly in talks with the player this time last year as Antonio Conte targeted new reinforcements.

Amrabat's contract with the Serie A outfit runs until 2024 and the club can extend it for another year, which leaves them in a strong position to negotiate. Liverpool's need to bolster their midfield options is growing after they failed to sign anyone permanently in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp has several options available to him, but their quality in the middle of the park is seen as their main area of weakness during a season that has, so far, underwhelmed. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Naby Keita have struggled for fitness in recent months.

Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones all lack the experience to be thrown in without older heads around them as Klopp looks to find a winning formula once more. Liverpool were linked with Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer before he chose Real Madrid whilst Jude Bellingham is a target for next summer.

Klopp admitted earlier this season: "I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong. That’s the situation. There is really nothing more to say about it. We are looking for it, and if it is the right player we need him and if it is not the right player we don’t need him."

Liverpool did sign Arthur on loan from Juventus but the Brazilian has been hampered by injuries ever since arriving and is on the sidelines again. The Brazilian has barely featured since moving from Italy as a result, with the Reds 15 points off the pace set by surprise Premier League leaders Arsenal.
