Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded to a message from NBA icon LeBron James.
Alexander-Arnold has been in fine form for the Reds this season, as the club strive to win silverware. The right-back has made 44 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals but providing 19 assists for his team-mates.
That form has seen Alexander-Arnold nominated for two prestigious awards. The 23-year-old has been nominated for both the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

Mohamed Salah has also been nominated for the latter of those awards. The Egyptian has already scooped the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award.
Basketball star LeBron James is already well known in the Liverpool community. In 2011 he acquired a two percent stake in the club as part of a move by owners Fenway Sports Group to get James to sign up to their management team.
James, of course, has a vested interest in Liverpool's success. While claiming to be a Reds fan, James has a one percent stake in FSG, which he took on as part of the reshuffle that occurred when RedBird Capital partners completed their $750m investment into the FSG in March last year.
The NBA star tweeted that Alexander-Arnold had received his vote. “[Ballot box emoji] in from me,” wrote James.
Alexander-Arnold replied by simply quoting the tweet with the crown emoji. This is in reference to James’ nickname, which is “King”.
