Liverpool player ratings Thiago Alcantara good but team-mate doesn't make impact vs Spurs

Alisson Becker 6

First-half save from Bentancur would have been rendered irrelevant anyway by offside flag. No chance with Tottenham goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

One fine piece of defending denied Son, edged battle with Sessegnon first half. Lost him for goal, though, and crosses became increasingly desperate.

Ibrahima Konate 7

Kept things simple defensively and used pace when required, and occasional threat at set-pieces with height.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Clipped top of bar with header from corner and did sufficient to quell Kane for the most part.

Andy Robertson 6

Began to get forward more prominently the longer first half progressed. Good deliveries from corners caused problems, but struggled after break. Subbed.

Fabinho 6

Good tackling and positioning kept Liverpool on the front foot before break but became a little more ragged second half as Tottenham grew in threat. Booked and subbed.

Thiago Alcantara 8

Used ball expertly in attempting to pull Tottenham defence out of position and tenacity allowed Liverpool to dominate midfield and, later on, drag themselves back into game.

Jordan Henderson 6

Led Liverpool’s early pressing and often a spare man in midfield with Tottenham more concerned by the wide men. Ran himself out of energy and subbed.

Mohamed Salah 6

At times double-marked with the visitors clearly afraid of his threat, but persevered and only denied likely goal by excellent Davies block.

Sadio Mane 6

Became a little bogged down amid all the Tottenham defenders before interval but became important later on with willingness to drop deeper.

Luis Diaz 8

Tested Lloris with low shot and constantly caused the Tottenham right flank issues first half. Slightly more subdued after break until deflected shot for leveller.

Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 64) 6

Got into some good attacking positions but decision-making inconsistent. Booked.

Diogo Jota (for Henderson 64) 5

Not the impact he would have wanted.

Naby Keita (for Fabinho 88)

Just enough time to be booked.
