Liverpool player ratings vs Brighton as Stefan Bajcetic impresses and Cody Gakpo promising but too many average

Alisson Becker 6

Fielded a few first-half efforts and no chance with Brighton’s deflected equaliser, nor the injury-time winner.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Fine clearance off line early on from Ferguson, but began to have issues with Mitoma second half. Subbed.

Joe Gomez 7

Pace was required to cover Brighton runners and decisive when stepping into midfield to challenge.

Ibrahima Konate 7

Strong-arming Ferguson prompted cheers from the away end and made his physical threat count. Booked.

Andy Robertson 6

Not much opportunity to raid forward first half but largely kept March in check. More opportunities to go forward. Booked.

Stefan Bajcetic 8

Some good interceptions – not least first-half tackle on Mitoma inside the area – and read game well having had to be careful after early booking. Subbed.

Naby Keita 6

Correctly survived handball shout in build-up to opener, although distribution didn’t always match solid pressing. Subbed.

Thiago Alcantara 6

Started with intent but lost his way midway through first half with some wayward passing. Better second half, however. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 6

Had early shot cleared off line and wasted another fine opportunity when sent clear, but released Elliott for opener. More difficult to become involved second half.

Cody Gakpo 6

Held the ball up well on occasion and began to find joy when running at Brighton from deep. More promising outing.

Harvey Elliott 7

Plenty of endeavour down the left despite not in favoured position, and took his goal very well. Subbed.

James Milner (for Alexander-Arnold 59) 7

Used experience to get to grips with Mitoma and made positive difference going forward.

Jordan Henderson (for Keita 59) 6

Better than here a fortnight ago, brought energy.

Darwin Nunez (for Elliott 59) 6

Added pace down the left but not involved enough.

Curtis Jones (for Thiago 79)

Minutes in midfield.

Fabinho (for Bajcetic 85)

Lucky not to be sent off for a poor foul on Ferguson which he instantly acknowledged.
