Alisson Becker 7
Dependable with hands and feet and pushed Ouattara wide for one chance first half. Stopped Christie late on.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 5
Set-piece deliveries decent but work from open play nowhere near as good. Minimal improvement second half. Subbed.
Ibrahima Konate 6
Solid at times, but escaped one foul on edge of area and missed attempted clearance for opener. Booked.

Virgil van Dijk 5
Won every header with Ouattara first half and excellent recovery when same player was sent clean through, but stood off him for opener. Had header cleared off line and then missed better opening.
Andy Robertson 6
Forced decent stop from Neto early on but distribution too often wayward first half. Better going forward after that but not his best.
Fabinho 5
Slow to track Billing for the opener and lacked a little spark for the most part. Subbed.
Harvey Elliott 6
Saw a lot of the ball in the opening quarter but didn’t always use possession correctly. Subbed.
Stefan Bajcetic 7
Got through a lot of work and always willing to get stuck in. Began pressing higher as Liverpool sought equaliser. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 4
Early mishit shot at Neto set tone for below-par first-half showing which became even worse with a dreadful penalty miss. A rare off day.
Cody Gakpo 6
Peripheral first half but started to cause problems second half when running from deep after switching to the number 10 role.
Darwin Nunez 5
Some good touches but didn’t always seem on the same wavelength as his team-mates first half. Switched central but again impact negligible. Subbed.
Diogo Jota (for Elliott 46) 6
Forced a save from Neto with one of his first touches and header led to penalty.
James Milner (for Alexander-Arnold 65) 6
Brought more energy to the effort.
Jordan Henderson (for Fabinho 65) 6
Was unable to properly inject the tempo required despite his attempts.
Roberto Firmino (for Nunez 66) 5
Couldn’t get himself involved.
Fabio Carvalho (for Bajcetic 88)
Impossible task.
