Here’s our Liverpool player ratings as the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Nottingham Forest And Liverpool Share The Spoils
Diogo Jota was the hero after he scored with his very first touch to help earn Liverpool a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
The Portuguese international came off the bench and headed home just 22 seconds later from a Kostas Tsimikas corner. Like Jota, the left-back had also just been subbed on.
Chris Wood had given Forest an early lead in a pulsating clash at the City Ground. The veteran striker has now netted 13 times in the Premier League this season.
Matz Sels pulled off a number of brilliant saves to ensure that both sides went home with a point apiece. The Tricky Trees move up to second in the table, six points behind Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool Player Ratings (4-2-3-1)
Alisson – 6
A couple of questions arose whether he could have done better on the opener as Wood scored from a tight angle. Other than that, a fairly quiet evening.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7
Performed much better than the last time out against Manchester United. His influence on the game grew after half-time. Defended well on occasions but attacking threat was often limited.
Ibrahima Konate – 6
An admirable performance by the defender who is still finding his feet after recent injury troubles. Looked strong in the air and wasn’t often threatened at the back before being subbed off.
Virgil van Dijk – 7
Another solid display by the Dutchman who wasn’t often put under too much pressure. Dealt with the aerial threat with minimal fuss and tried valiantly to start attacks for his side.
Andy Robertson – 5
The left-back has struggled somewhat in recent weeks as his best years look behind him. Elanga continues to trouble him before Tsimikas came on. Didn’t win one tackle all night.
Ryan Gravenberch – 6
An unusually under-par showing from the midfielder who has been brilliant this season. A rare off night where he struggled at times to influence the game. Did improve as the game went on.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6
A sluggish first-half but he did improve in the second period. Continually tried to thread through balls to the attack. Perhaps got into the game too late to control it.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7
Another who struggled to stamp his authority on the game. Especially in the first-half. The Hungarian worked hard for his side throughout and come into life later in the game. Fizzed a shot narrowly wide.
Mo Salah – 6
The best player in the league this season had an unmemorable evening at the City Ground. Was slow off the mark for Wood’s opener and generally drifted out of the match too much. Was marshalled well by Williams.
Luis Diaz – 6
Another Reds star who had an off-night. Failed to put Gakpo clean through on goal and failed to get the better of the Forest defence. Subbed off.
Cody Gakpo – 6
Almost stole the headlines with a stoppage-time winner but again struggled in large parts of the game. Like most of his teammates, things just didn’t go right all evening.
Substitutes
Kostas Tsimikas – 7 (on for Robertson 65′)
Came on and straight away and provided an assist. Has probably done enough to replace a struggling Robertson in the starting XI.
Diogo Jota – 9 (on for Konate 65′)
Arne Slot’s supersub ensured the Reds went back to Anfield with a point. Scored within 22 seconds and kept Sels busy with a series of efforts on goal. Completely changed the game.
Curtis Jones – 6 (on for Diaz 74′)
An average performance from the England midfielder. Helped slow play down but perhaps a bit too much with a winning goal needed.
