Liverpool player ratings as Jordan Henderson and five others absolutely dreadful in new low at Brighton

Alisson Becker 6

Clutched a header from Mac Allister first half and took a bang to the head. No chance with any of the goals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Cleared a March shot off the line and good interception prevented another first-half chance, but had difficulties dealing with Mitoma. Right attitude. Booked.

Joel Matip 3

All over the place at times but one good tackle inside area stopped Mitoma before terrible pass infield led to the opener. Booked and subbed.

Ibrahima Konate 5

Occasionally had to be in two places at once and required to make a number of interventions. Lost Welbeck for the third, however.

Andy Robertson 5

Not given much protection up against the tricky March and suffered as a consequence. Raids forward were rare.

Fabinho 4

A proper defensive shift but wasn’t helped by Liverpool constantly giving the ball away. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 3

Struggled to get any sort of grip on the game in midfield. Application didn’t match effort. Booked and subbed.

Thiago Alcantara 3

Barely had a touch given the formation change and then gave the ball away in dangerous areas when dropping deeper. Second half not much better.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 5

Put in a decent stint in the job he was asked to do in a withdrawn left position and pressured well. Subbed after tiring.

Mohamed Salah 5

Forced a save from Sanchez first half but otherwise far too peripheral. Couldn’t be faulted for work-rate, though.

Cody Gakpo 4

Given precious little service playing down the middle as partner to Salah. Looked completely lost at times, but some chances late on.

Harvey Elliott (for Fabinho 69) 5

At least brought some energy to the midfield and dragged shot wide.

Ben Doak (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 69) 5

Positioned out on the left flank, which isn’t his natural role.

Joe Gomez (for Matip 69) 5

Bamboozled by Welbeck for the third but otherwise more solid than the man he replaced.

Naby Keita (for Henderson 69) 5

Looked to get Liverpool moving forward.
