Alisson Becker 7
Safe hands to clutch a number of shots directed at him by Forest first half. No chance with the Forest opener and later saved from Johnson and Yates.
James Milner 6
Offered himself regularly down the right and overlapped well with Elliott. Good engine and great block prevented Gibbs-White making it 2-0. Subbed.
Joe Gomez 4
Somewhat nervy during the opening quarter but had settled before needless foul on Awoniyi led to booking and prompted the Forest opener.

Virgil van Dijk 6
Solid defensively and pushed into midfield on occasion, hitting big diagonals first half. Missed big chance when getting far-post header all wrong, though, and denied right at death by Henderson.
Andy Robertson 6
Saw sufficient possession on the front foot but too often had to stop and come back inside. More of the same second half.
Fabinho 4
Slow on occasion to provide cover for centre-backs but gradually improved, but didn’t offer much in second half and gave ball away too often. What has happened to him?
Curtis Jones 6
Pressed into an emergency central midfield role due to late Thiago absence, decent enough but sometimes overelaborate on ball. Switched to left flank when Carvalho went off.
Harvey Elliott 7
Great ball created early chance for Carvalho and at the hub of any Liverpool threat. Denied goal by decent Henderson stop second half.
Roberto Firmino 5
Sent header wide from corner but barely involved after that before break. Some good pressuring early second half but still too peripheral. Subbed.
Fabio Carvalho 5
Denied by Henderson after great initial touch, but flitted in and out of the game on the left with increasingly minimal impact. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 5
One shot deflected wide but wasn’t given much decent service from his team-mates. Took a knock towards half-time and not many openings second half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (for Milner 62) 6
Rarely able to impact game going forward but header saved late on.
Jordan Henderson (for Carvalho 62) 6
At least looked to get Liverpool on the attack a bit quicker.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Firmino 76) 5
Welcome return to action, but barely touched ball.
