Liverpool player ratings as Andy Robertson shines and Divock Origi delivers v Everton again

Alisson Becker 6

Barely touched the ball with his hands first half but busier later on and escaped after sending one punched clearance against a team-mate.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Some early issues with the pace of Gordon but got to grips and started to show a bit more going forward. Booked.

Joel Matip 7

Defended solidly enough, particularly during opening stages when Everton caused a few issues. Saw off Gordon, Richarlison and Rondon.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Knocked about on occasion by Richarlison but retained his composure before a steady second half.

Andy Robertson 8

Regularly an outlet down the left and fashioned one chance for Jota before break, and his persistence to keep going saw him in the right place to head opener.

Fabinho 7

Suffered a head problem in opening exchanges and largely redundant defensively as Everton sat back. Kept Liverpool ticking over second half with decent passing.

Thiago Alcantara 7

Looked to move the Everton defence around with his passing, which became more effective second half as the visitors’ concentration levels began to dip.

Naby Keita 6

A few moments of promise but became bogged down with everyone else in a turgid first-half midfield battle. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 7

Always seemed on the verge of something that didn’t quite happen first half, but found more spaced after break and stood up fine cross for Robertson to score opener.

Sadio Mane 6

Another to have threatened more than he delivered before break as Liverpool floundered going forward. Booked for needless half-time flare-up with Holgate and Allan. Subbed.

Diogo Jota 6

Peripheral for significant periods, but wide with one effort first half before a bit of a set-to with Coleman. Subbed.

Luis Diaz (for Keita 60) 7

Caused Everton problem with his willingness to run at defenders, particularly Coleman. Acrobatic volley inadvertently set up second.

Divock Origi (for Mane 60) 8

Instant impact with part in the Liverpool opener and then on hand to head home the second.

Jordan Henderson (for Jota 82)

Brought on to firm up the midfield, cross helped create second.
