Liverpool player ratings as Alisson and Andy Robertson superb against Crystal Palace

Alisson Becker 9

Wasn’t to know Mateta was offside when making fine first-half save and later denied Olise. Performed heroics to keep out Edouard and Olise again second half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Superb first half in possession, in terms of pace, imagination and accuracy. Not quite so prominent after that as Palace tested him defensively with their stirring revival. Subbed.

Joel Matip 6

Slightly shaky start and didn’t always look as comfortable as usual when on the ball. Gifted one chance to Palace and weak header allowed the home side chance to break for their first.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Absolutely powered home his header for the opener and increasingly busy as Palace cranked up the pressure and went direct.

Whipped in fine corner for the opener and then floated in a cross to the far post for the second. Such a danger going forward, and needed to be switched on defensively up against Olise.

Fabinho 7

Dominant in the opening half-hour as Liverpool wrested the initiative. Missed decent first-chance, though, and struggled at times after break. Tucked away penalty nicely.

Jordan Henderson 7

Plenty of effort from the skipper, who used the ball much better and was more of an influence. Had shot saved by Guaita, and in second half made some good defensive contributions.

Curtis Jones 7

Again operating on the left of central midfield three, impressed before interval with swift use of ball. Much more of a slog after that, but maintained his level.

Pressured the Palace defence into a succession of mistakes and linked play well on the counter, until almost disappearing completely second half. Booked and subbed.

Diogo Jota 6

Involved in a few physical tussles first half and teed up chance for Fabinho. Put in the yards and won a very iffy penalty for the game-clinching third.

Couldn’t impact the game as required.

James Milner (for Firmino 90)

Minutes.
