Liverpool will parade the Champions League trophy through the streets of the city today after beating Tottenham in Madrid last night.
Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi scored Liverpool’s goals in a 2-0 win at the Wanda Metropolitano, to seal the sixth European Cup of the club’s history.
The players and staff will take an open-top bus through the city, starting at Allerton Maze to the south of the city, at 4pm.
The bus route will go north on Queens Drive before cutting west past Newsham Park, to the centre of town and finishing along the Waterfront.
Tens of thousands are expected to line the streets to greet the players on their return from Spain, meaning there will be road closures.
Liverpool Council said: “Motorists are advised that the city centre is expected to be extremely busy, and with this in mind they should plan their journeys in and out of the city carefully.
“As crowd volumes increase, it is expected that there will periodic closures of the Queensway Tunnel, as the parade passes close by, and an extended closure of the dock branch exit.”
