Liverpool brought the curtain down on the first part of their Premier League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Southampton.
This afternoon’s game at Anfield was the Reds’ last in the Premier League until Boxing Day as focus now switches to the World Cup. The tournament commences next Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp has seven members of his squad heading to the tournament in Qatar after they received call-ups by their respective countries. But the likes of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Roberto Firmino will be remaining at home.

And we have taken a look at Liverpool’s next six confirmed fixtures compared to some of the clubs around them in the battle for a top four finish - and also those above - following the World Cup break.
Liverpool couldn't have been handed a tougher draw on Thursday night when they were put against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The Reds came through a penalty shootout against League One side Derby County to carry on their defence of the trophy while City beat Chelsea 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
The fourth round is due to take place week commencing December 19 and the game will be the first Liverpool play following the resumption of domestic football. That has been confirmed for Thursday, December 22. The Reds then travel to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Boxing Day before continuing their return to Premier League action with a game against Leicester City at Anfield four days later (30th).
The Reds then face Brentford the day after New Year’s Day before heading to the south coast to take on Brighton on January 14. However, it is worth noting that Klopp's side are expected to have a third round FA Cup tie between the games at the Gtech Community Stadium and the Amex.
