Liverpool news: White stunned by Reds attack as Carvalho draws Beckham comparisons

Liverpool are preparing to improve on their opening day showing at Fulham as the Premier League kicked off once again.

Mo Salah needed to produce a second-half equaliser as the Reds twice came from behind to level things at Craven Cottage as their injury problems mounted. Thiago was forced off and will be sidelined for weeks, which could yet force the Merseyside outfit into the transfer market.

Jurgen Klopp has remained coy on that prospect with Liverpool generally taking a considered approach to recruitment. Crystal Palace will be next up for the title hopefuls, who will be looking to get their first win of the season under their belts. These are the latest news lines regarding the Reds.

White stunned by attack

Ben White was stunned with the pace of Liverpool's blistering attack following their 2-0 victory against Arsenal in March - and he made his feelings clear inside his team's dressing room.

The Gunners put in a solid display against Jurgen Klopp's side at the Emirates but lost the game when Liverpool scored two goals in eight second-half minutes. Arsenal were in fine form at the time, winning five straight Premier League games before the defeat.

On entering the home dressing room at full-time, a composed White, who was captured on Amazon's 'All or Nothing' series, said to his shell-shocked teammates: "Any slight opportunity they get... f*** me. They're so clinical. The second one, he's [Roberto Firmino] literally just got his toe in front of me."

Carra rips Coady

Jamie Carragher has given Conor Coady a ribbing after the former Liverpool man wrapped up a season-long switch to Everton.

Coady has joined the Toffees on loan from Wolves after he was benched for their opening Premier League clash at Leeds United on Saturday. The 29-year-old will link up with Frank Lampard's side until May, but Everton do have the option to make the move a permanent one if Coady impresses at Goodison Park.

The move represents a chance for Coady, who came through the ranks at Liverpool after joining the club as a teenager, to return to Merseyside; albeit with the Reds' bitter rivals.

And Liverpool icon Carragher has fired a light-hearted joke at Coady on social media after the Wolves captain outlined his desire to join the Toffees. Sharing an image of the two playing together for Liverpool, Carragher posted on Instagram : "Turncoat! Good luck @ConorCoady."

Carvalho likened to Becks

New arrival Fabio Carvalho has drawn comparisons to David Beckham with former Anfield No 2 Phil Thompson convinced the youngster will be a star.

He told LFC TV: “I’ve seen enough of him for Fulham but what he brings and what I think Liverpool look at, as much as the goals, are the assists,” he said. “I think they’re big things that people look at. Yes, you can help people with those but you have to have – you go back to David Beckham.

“People go ‘oh he picks people out’ – no he doesn’t. He puts the ball in the right area for strikers and that’s what Carvalho is. He is going to be a star, I can tell you. He’s got so much ability and he will shock everybody.”
