Liverpool should have signed one of the Championship's top attacking talents rather than new Colombian winger Luis Diaz, it has been claimed.
The Reds swooped for the former Porto player hours before the transfer deadline passed in a £50million swoop as they pipped Tottenham to the player's signature.
But the club have now been told they could have found better value in the Championship by outspoken Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony.
It comes after Luis Diaz's dad shared what the player has made of his Liverpool teammates so far.
And Sadio Mane appeared to accidentally snub the Senegal president after sealing his nation's Africa Cup of Nations win.

Diaz's first impressions
Luis Diaz's father has lifted the lid on his son's first impressions following his move to Anfield.
The Colombian winger made his debut for the Reds on Sunday as he came off the bench in the 58th minute of their 3-1 win against Cardiff in the FA Cup.
And after taking part in first-team training with the rest of the squad for several days now, the player's opinion of his new teammates has been revealed.
Speaking on the radio in his native Colombia, the forward's dad Luis Manuel Diaz disclosed exactly what his son has made of his new club so far.
Mane snub
Sadio Mane appeared to accidentally snub a handshake from Senegal president Macky Sall after sealing his nation's Africa Cup of Nations win.
Mane stepped up to smash home the winning penalty in the final as Senegal beat Mohamed Salah's Egypt to lift the trophy on Sunday night.
The win sparked wild celebrations in Mane's Senegal as the country claimed the continent's top international competition for the first time ever.
But as Mane picked up his winner's medal, the Senegal star appeared to ignore his country's president in order to imitate one of his Liverpool teammates.
Diaz 'mistake'
Liverpool could have signed a player "just as good" as new man Luis Diaz for half the cost had they looked in the Championship, it has been claimed.
The Reds spent £37.5million on the Colombian winger in a move which could rise to £50million depending on how he gets on at Anfield.
But now Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has shared his belief that the Championship is "as good as the Portuguese league" and that the division's top players would cost significantly less than £50million.
He's also suggested a couple of names the Reds should have looked at.
