Liverpool couldn’t secure top spot in their Champions League group but Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Napoli was a welcome morale boost following their torrid start to the Premier League season.
And albeit small, the Reds were handed a boost ahead of Monday’s last-16 draw, where they are expected to be pitted against tough opponents from Pot 1 as a consequence of not topping their group. Elsewhere, Sir Kenny Dalglish has made a touching tribute to Jurgen Klopp, while the Reds could be without six players ahead of this weekend.

Reds receive Champions League boost
Liverpool are preparing for the worst ahead of Monday’s Champions League last-16 draw after failing to finish as Group A winners.
Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Napoli was not enough to place them in Pot 1, meaning they face the prospect of being drawn against the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the knockout stages. However, not all is bad.
With Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham all topping their groups, it means the only other two teams the Reds can be drawn against are Portuguese duo Porto and Benfica. Crucially, the latter managed to finish above Paris Saint-Germain to hand the Reds a boost ahead of the draw.

Dalglish makes Klopp tribute
Liverpool manager Klopp has been awarded the freedom of the city for his efforts with the Reds since taking over seven years ago.
To mark his achievements and impact on the city and its people, Klopp was recognised at a special ceremony at Liverpool Town Hall on Wednesday. During the event, Dalglish made a touching gesture to the German by thanking him in his native language.
He said: "I'd just like to say, Jurgen, I know you won't have understood a word that I have said to you. Being a Liverpool fan and being fortunate enough to work at the club, danke schon."

Liverpool injury woes continue
Liverpool could remain without six first-team players for Sunday’s clash with Tottenham following James Milner’s concussion against Napoli in midweek.
The Reds have recently welcomed back midfielders Jordan Henderson and Thiago to the side, but Milner was the latest name to be added to the casualties list after being withdrawn following a clash of heads.
Joel Matip and Naby Keita also remain doubts ahead of Sunday as they continue their recoveries from long-term issues, while Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Arthur will not play for the Reds again until after the World Cup.
