Liverpool news: Paul Scholes suggests Jurgen Klopp has fallen out with Jordan Henderson

Paul Scholes believes Jurgen Klopp has fallen out with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

The England international started Saturday’s loss to Nottingham Forest on the bench on what a miserable day for Liverpool at the City Ground.

Klopp’s midfield options have been heavily criticised this season and the loan signing of Arthur Melo is yet to work out.

The club made a U-turn to bring the Brazilian in on loan from Juventus but the 26-year-old made only two senior appearances before suffering a reasonably long-term injury.

Henderson has been a key part of Klopp’s success on Merseyside though, like many of Liverpool’s midfield options, has struggled with injury himself.

The midfielder missed three Premier League games with a hamstring injury earlier this season and has since started only three times.

In his place, Klopp has turned to the likes of Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones, leaning heavily on young players.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Scholes said: “He has Jordan Henderson on the bench, he should be playing.

“He is the leader of the team. He’s the captain and the one, the Casemiro type of role, and he gets everyone ticking around.

“He seems to have fallen out with him or carrying an injury. There is something not quite right there.”
