Liverpool felt the backlash when they joined a proposed Super League back in 2021 - but new attempts could soon be launched.
The failed venture lasted just days but a rehashed version is set to take note of issues that greatly angered fans. No founding members, as well as qualification on sporting merit, could be factors. The Reds' immediate focus will be on sorting aspects on the pitch - with their latest defeat coming at Wolves.
Jurgen Klopp is trying to revive Liverpool's fortunes amid the backdrop of uncertainty at board level. FSG are open to selling the club - and are inevitably eyeing a notable profit - but finding a buyer to pay the sort of money they want could prove challenging.

New Super League on the cards
New attempts to launch the European Super League (ESL) is set to be established - nearly two years after the initial project collapsed within days of its launch.
The idea for the controversial competition has undergone major surgery. The new proposals contain no permanent members and a multi-divisional format that will include between 60 and 80 clubs, with each team playing a minimum of 14 games per season.
The revamped ESL was unveiled to the Spanish press by A22 Sports Management - the company in charge of promoting the idea of a 'Super League'. It is still being led by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus - who are in the middle of a legal battle with UEFA.
It is unclear at this stage exactly how the 60 to 80 clubs will be recruited, though it appears a promotion and relegation model - similar to UEFA's format for their three competitions - would be adopted. The ESL would be viewed as a direct rival to UEFA.
Concerns over asking price
Former Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton has predicted that the Reds will sell for less than expected in the coming months.
FSG, the owners of Liverpool, announced that they were seeking outside investment, and although it remains to be seen if FSG are planning to sell a shareholding in the club rather than their whole stake, with their asking price in excess of £4billion.
Broughton told The Telegraph: "I would question whether they'll [United and Liverpool] get the kind of prices they floated. With Chelsea – and I think Arsenal and Tottenham would fall into the same category – the people we spoke to tended to be overseas billionaires who had a pad in London and the pad in London was in Knightsbridge or Kensington, Chelsea or something.
"So when they came to London, they went to Chelsea. They were football fans, and they were Chelsea fans... they're not going to be bidders for Liverpool or Manchester United because they've got a pad in London and they're not planning to move their pad to Manchester or Liverpool. So it's a different type of buyer to the ones that we were looking for with our consortium."
Torres picks Red over Blues
Former Premier League marksman Fernando Torres has placed his loyalties firmly with Liverpool over Chelsea having played for both clubs.
Torres spent four years at the Reds before a stunning January transfer deadline day move to Chelsea in 2011. The Spaniard had been one of the top-flight's best strikers during his time at Anfield, but he struggled to replicate his form at Stamford Bridge despite his hefty fee.
The former striker took part in a This or That challenge for the official TikTok page for the Champions League. He was asked to shoot a ball into one side of a goal as he answered seven questions. The Spaniard showed his preference for Liverpool over Chelsea, choosing Anfield instead of Stamford Bridge. He also backed Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard over Frank Lampard, the Blues' all-time record scorer.
