Jurgen Klopp may have to break his promise if Liverpool are to land their top transfer target next summer.
The Reds boss previously said that the day he signs a £100million player would be the day that he no longer has a job. But with Liverpool expected to make Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham their top transfer target next summer, Klopp may need to break that promise.
It comes as Roberto Firmino's Liverpool exit could be accelerated as Jurgen Klopp's transfer plan comes to light. And the Reds ignored the opportunity to sign Kalvin Phillips earlier in the transfer window before the former Leeds United star sealed his switch to Manchester City.

Klopp could break promise
Jurgen Klopp may need to break his promise to seal the signing of Jude Bellingham.
The England international is set to become one of the most sought-after names in world football next summer, with Borussia Dortmund refusing to grant his sale this summer after waving goodbye to his former teammate Erling Haaland. Top clubs including the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all expected to make offers for the star – which could increase his price if a bidding war breaks out.
That could send the overall transfer fee north of £100m, something Klopp would be loathed to spend after previously insisting: "The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore."
Firmino's departure nears
Roberto Firmino has seen his stature within Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool squad diminished somewhat in recent months.
The Brazilian had formed part of the Reds' famous attacking trio alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. All three were set to have their contracts expire at Anfield next year and while Mane decided to move on and sign for Bayern Munich, Salah has penned a new deal with the Reds.
That leaves just Firmino whose future remains up in the air, but with Jurgen Klopp adding Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez to his attacking ranks this year, his departure could be nearing.
Phillips opportunity ignored
Liverpool reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign Kalvin Phillips before the midfielder sealed his move to Manchester City.
The England international has joined Pep Guardiola's side in a £42million move– potentially rising to £45million with add-ons. But the Reds could have got one over their Premier League rivals by signing Phillips earlier in the window.
It is claimed they were offered the opportunity to bring Phillips in but rejected the chance to do so, despite considering the transfer a relatively 'easy' one to complete.
