Liverpool endured one of the worst nights of their modern Champions League history out Napoli ran out 4-1 winners in what was a dominant display from the Italian outfit.
The Serie A titans had two penalties inside the opening 16 minutes, but only one was converted after Victor Osimhen saw his spot-kick saved by Reds shot-stopper Alisson. The moment did not provide Jurgen Klopp's side with any momentum as they found themselves three goals down by the time the half-time whistle was blown.
Piotr Zielinski notched his second of the game in the 47th minute - Napoli's fourth, to effectively end the game as a contest despite Luis Diaz's consolation strike just two minutes later. Klopp cut a frustrated figure on the touchline as his side were put to the sword.

Klopp makes eye-opening admission
The Reds boss admitted that his Liverpool squad may need to "reinvent themselves" in the wake of their drubbing out in Italy.
In truth, Liverpool have failed to find their best form for the majority of the opening exchanges of this season. They already find themselves languishing in seventh, six points behind long-term title rivals Manchester City and current league-leaders Arsenal.
"We played bad in the first half but usually we don't concede three goal. With Alisson in goal, you have to be really bad for that to happen. We played here when we lost 2-0 and that was an awful game," Klopp told BT Sport.
"It looks like we have to reinvent ourselves. There is a lot of things lacking, the fun part is that we have to do it in the middle of a Premier League and Champions League season.

Carragher highlights "big problem"
Jamie Carragher feels that Liverpool have looked like a shadow of their former-selves this season when it comes to their pressing.
Usually so relentless over the years, plenty of the Reds players could have been accused of failing to put in the hard yards against Napoli.
The hosts ran riot and were allowed to largely in part due to the mixture of Liverpool's high-line and their apparent reluctance to press like they have been in recent seasons gone-by.
"We mentioned that before the game, this is a problem for Liverpool - the high line and that they aren’t actually getting pressure on the ball," Carragher told CBS Sports.
"The thing for me, right now is that Liverpool play a high-risk game, but they're not pressing the ball to stop that high-risk game and it’s causing them the problem."

Klopp blocked deadline day exit
The Liverpool boss is reported to have stood in the way of Nat Phillips and a summer switch to Portuguese outfit Benfica on transfer deadline day earlier this month.
Despite being significantly down the central defensive pecking order at Anfield, Klopp was against the idea of Phillips leaving the club - even though he spent the latter half of last season on loan at Bournemouth.
Benfica were keen on signing the centre-back to a season-long loan, but Klopp was keen to keep him around in case of any more injuries to his first-choice backline.
Joel Matip has already missed games this term due to being sidelines with injuries, while Joe Gomez' fitness record in recent years is hardly reassuring.
Phillips is no stranger to playing abroad, enjoying a spell with German outfit Stuttgart over the course of the 2019/20 campaign. It was the season after he was first thurst into Klopp's plans due to long-term injuries sustained by all three of Matip, Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.
