Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp gifted chance to complete Jude Bellingham transfer amid exit

As Liverpool fans will tell you, it's time for Jurgen Klopp to sign a new central midfielder.

The likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are all entering the latter stages of their careers, while Naby Keita and James Milner are both out of contract in June. Liverpool need some fresh talent, as their results this season prove. They are sixth in the Premier League - seven points behind Tottenham in fourth with two games in hand.

Klopp's side also failed to go the distance in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League - just a season after they reached the final of all those competitions. With the transfer window just around the corner, here are the latest headlines from Merseyside.

Dalglish urges Tierney to stay

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has told Kieran Tierney to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place amid doubts over the Scot's future.

Tierney, 25, has slipped behind Oleksandr Zinchenko in the pecking order at the Emirates this season. Rumours suggest the left-back could complete a transfer this summer to play more often, with various clubs expected to be interested in him.

Yet Dalglish thinks Tierney should stay in London. "Kieran was left out initially because he was injured, and the player who came in for him has done well," he told The Sunday Post.

"Mikel Arteta probably decided to sign Zinchenko because he wants Arsenal to play the same way as Manchester City, with the full-backs playing on the inside rather than outside."

Real cool Bellingham interest

Real Madrid are not expected to make any major signings this summer - giving Liverpool the chance to swoop for Jude Bellingham.

The England international, 19, is Liverpool's main transfer target after impressing at the World Cup in Qatar and in the Champions League for Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund. Several pundits are tipping Bellingham to leave Germany this summer.

Bellingham is likely to cost more than £130million due to his outstanding potential. Although Man City and Paris Saint-Germain are still interested in the talent, Real's new stance increases Liverpool's chances of luring Bellingham to Merseyside.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's transfer options

England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Yet the 29-year-old midfielder could stay in the Premier League - with three Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brighton all thought to be after his signature. The Magpies and the Seagulls could even offer him European football, which they are both on course to secure.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who turns 30 in August, boasts a wealth of experience after spells with Southampton and Arsenal. He has played more than 400 games for club and country and won countless trophies - including the Premier League title and Champions League.
