Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp agrees on Jude Bellingham transfer and gives classy speech

Liverpool are gearing up for a return to Premier League action on Saturday as they face a testing trip away to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have lost each of their last two league outings against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United – two sides who began those matchdays in the relegation zone – and have dropped to ninth in the standings, with a title challenge already looking beyond Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, this midweek continued their impressive Champions League form with a win over Napoli and they will be aiming to take that form into North London. Mirror Football rounds up the headlines from Anfield for Thursday, 3 November.

Jude Bellingham has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp has hinted he would want a deal following quotes from his agent.

Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Bellingham on a number of occasions in the past, with Klopp thought to be a big fan. Meanwhile, rivals Manchester City and Manchester United are also admirers of the Englishman, while Real Madrid have emerged as frontrunners for his signature next summer.

Jurgen Klopp has been awarded the Freedom of the City of Liverpool and delivered an emotional speech to comment on the recognition.

The honour was handed to the German at a special ceremony at Liverpool Town Hall on Wednesday – seven years after Klopp arrived at Anfield, having oversaw one Premier League title and one Champions League crown for the club.

Asked if he now felt like a Scouser, he replied: “It is not for me to say that but I feel like that and over the years you realise that the Scouse people and us as a family have a lot of things in common.”

Reds given Son advice

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has urged the club to consider signing Tottenham forward Son Heung-min.

The Reds have looked light in attack this season with injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the months after Sadio Mane left Anfield to join Bayern Munich. That has been underlined by the fact that Klopp’s side have only scored more than once in one Premier League game that they have won this campaign.

Hamann has said: "Son is a brilliant player and he would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool - I'm a big fan of his."
