Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be ramping up his January transfer window plans with reports suggesting the club have held talks with PSV forward Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo, 22, has been one of his club's standout players and has netted 10 goals for PSV so far this season.
It comes as former Liverpool target Dayot Upamecano has seen his dream move to Bayern Munich turn sour after he made the switch from RB Leipzig last summer.
And Reds boss Klopp is set for five significant boosts after the current international break ends with players due to return from injury and their AFCON contingent getting ever closer to returning.

Upamecano's move turns sour
Dayot Upamecano was one of the most sought-after signings of last summer as the French centre-back made the decision to leave RB Leipzig.
He was chased by some of Europe's top clubs, including Liverpool, but eventually opted to move to German giants Bayern Munich.
But things have not worked out for Upamecano in Munich – and he's now been publicly criticised by his boss Julian Nagelsmann as his struggles at the club continue.
Nagelsmann brought up the defender's concentration levels as he slammed his team for a goal they conceded against Hertha Berlin.
Klopp's boost
Jurgen Klopp is set for five significant boosts after the international break ends.
Several Reds stars will be in action over the coming weeks including the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Takumi Minamino.
Star men Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are still on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations – but the rest of the Reds' squad can put their feet up for a well-earned rest.
And with the AFCON now heading towards the business end, Liverpool could have their key players back and Klopp's set for a big return from injury as well.
Transfer talks held
Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign PSV forward Cody Gakpo.
Things have been relatively quiet at Anfield this month despite the January transfer window being open.
But the Reds are said to be keen on Gakpo, who made his international debut for Holland at last summer's Euro 2020.
The forward has been on fire in the Eredivisie this season and has scored six goals and registered 10 assists in just 15 games as his club continues to challenge Ajax for the title.
But Liverpool will face serious competition for the player's signature, however, with Man City and Bayern Munich also well in the race
