Liverpool new boy Luis Diaz already meeting Roberto Firmino's "great expectations"

Luis Diaz is rapidly emerging as one of Liverpool's most dangerous attackers, which is quite the tribute considering their star-studded line-up.

Lesser players may have been overawed by the number of household names and world-renowned attacking talent the Reds have at their disposal, but Diaz has slotted in seamlessly.

The Colombia international arrived late in the January transfer window to the tune of £37million, though that figure could eventually rise to £49m if certain add-ons are met.

Some had questioned whether the former Porto forward could adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, but Diaz has impressed everyone who has witnessed him since he first donned the iconic red shirt against Cardiff in the FA Cup.

Much of the Anfield faithful should have seen this kind of form coming, given they had actually already encountered Diaz this season when Porto made the visit to Liverpool for their Champions League group stage clash.

Liverpool's players certainly knew what they were getting after that display, as Roberto Firmino explained in his recent comments on his fellow South American.

Speaking at the tail-end of last month, the Brazilian told the media: "We knew of [Diaz's] quality and what a great person he is.

"He is a really nice guy and he'll definitely help in a lot of games this season.

"He showed in the first game with his assist (against Cardiff in the FA Cup ) and getting in the box effectively - and we won the match.

"We've got great expectations that he will really help the team and it's up to us to help him adapt to the team."

Fast forward to the Reds most recent outing at home to West Ham in the league and Diaz was yet again the best player on the pitch.

Blessed with a first touch even some fellow Premier League stars could only dream of, Diaz was relentlessly progressive against the Hammers - constantly on the prowl, trying to find an opening to hurt them.

Though the 90 minutes passed without a goal for the 25-year-old, his efforts did not go unnoticed.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher waxed lyrical over the Colombian while on commentary duty for Sky Sports while Chelsea icon John Terry took to Twitter to say "Diaz is a player."

The highest praise of all, however, came from his captain Jordan Henderson.

After the 1-0 win over West Ham, Henderson discussed Diaz with the BBC and said: “He’s hit the ground running. He’s been fantastic. He was immense in the [Carabao Cup] final and again today brilliant.

"He’s fit straight in, pressing and winning the ball high up the pitch."

Diaz is just seven games into his Liverpool career, but if they are a sign of things to come the Colombian could well exceed Firmino's "great expectations."
