Liverpool midfielder absent from training ahead of Benfica in Champions League
Liverpool are back in Champions League action on Wednesday night as they welcome Benfica to Anfield for the second leg of their quarter-final clash.
Jurgen Klopp 's side take a 3-1 lead into the fixture after goals from Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz secured the win at the Estadio da Luz last week. Darwin Nunez handed his side a lifeline with a goal shortly after half-time and they'll hope to produce a sensational comeback. There's little rest for the Reds after they drew 2-2 with Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday and remain a point behind their rivals in the title race.
Attention swiftly turned to European action, though, with a place up for grabs in the semi-finals of the competition against either Bayern Munich or Villarreal. Here are three things spotted from Liverpool 's Tuesday training season at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby....

Fulham find Fabio Carvalho 'replacement' as Liverpool transfer edges closer
Fulham have seemingly made a move to replace the outgoing Fabio Carvalho ahead of next season as they have approached Shaktar Donetsk for winger Manor Solomon in deal that could be worth £7million. Reports came out last week that Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Carvalho for an initial £5million.
The 19-year-old almost secured a switch to Liverpool on the final day of the January transfer window, but the deal fell through as time ran out. The ECHO understands Liverpool have continued to negotiate behind the scenes and are on the brink of concluding a deal for the England Under-20 international.
The Reds had been concerned about losing out to a European giant given Carvalho was able to speak to clubs outside of England in January. They were also wary of the potential for a tribunal hearing with Carvalho into the final six months of his contract when they made contact with Fulham in January.
