This weekend will be cloudy and rainy, as we see the end of a record breaking week.
Historic days were recorded on Monday and Tuesday after an intense period of hot weather. Highs of 40C were hit, making it officially the hottest day ever. Now that the extreme heat is behind us, the weather is beginning to get back to "normal" with highs of 19C and 20C expected this weekend across Merseyside.
Today, on Friday, July 22, it is expected to be cloudy with scattered showers throughout the day. At times, the Met Office say the showers could get heavy and thunder is also possible.

Forecasters have put a yellow thunderstorm warning in place for the south west of the country and while a warning isn't in place across Merseyside, thunder is still expected. The weekend forecast is being described as "unsettled" with bright spells , heavy showers and blustery showers.
The yellow warning for thunderstorms in place from 10am until 10pm which covers the south west of England and southern Wales. The Met Office said: "A few places could see slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms during Friday."
People are told to expect: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
