Liverpool may have midfield transfer chance as club consider 'heavy sale' of rumoured target

Liverpool have been handed a potential boost over their reported interest in signing Nicolo Barella.

The Reds were linked with Inter Milan midfielder throughout the summer, as one of a number of rumoured targets. In the end, though, no deal for the Italy international was completed.

Instead, Liverpool chose to sign another midfielder from Serie A, with Arthur Melo arriving on loan from Juventus. Now, though, reports are claiming that Barella could be on the move.

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato , Inter could be forced to sell one of their key players in January. This is because, the report says, of the club’s financial situation, which means that one of their ‘big’ players must be sold in a ‘heavy’ sale.

It has been claimed that Barella is one of the players who is being considered for a sale when the transfer window opens, which would provide a boost to clubs interested in his services.

Striker Lautaro Martinez and defender Alessandro Bastoni are the other two players who could seemingly be up for sale at Inter.

As well as Liverpool, fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have also been reported as showing an interest in Barella. Spurs boss Antonio Conte managed Barella during his time at Inter, and will know the player well.
