Liverpool are hopeful of signing Fulham teenage star Fabio Carvalho ahead of the January transfer window deadline after completing the signing of forward Luis Diaz.
Representatives from the Reds flew out to South America to complete the deal worth £37.5million up front plus add-ons of a potential £12.5m.
They are now hopeful of bolstering their squad further ahead of the close of the transfer window on Monday night with a move for England youth international Carvalho from Fulham.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a stunning start to the season for the Cottagers, scoring seven goals in 16 Championship appearances.
Any move is likely to be complicated with Fulham gunning for promotion back to the Premier League and boss Marco Silva already ruling out an exit for Carvalho this month.

However, the Reds believe that a deal is possible as Carvalho will be available as a free agent when his existing deal expires in June – meaning that Fulham may be tempted to cash-in this month.
Fulham would be entitled to a compensation fee for training him should he leave this summer but the club would prefer a higher transfer fee to bolster their finances.
Carvalho was crowned EFL's Young Player of the Month last August and has been capped by England at U16, U17 and U18 level.
The West London outfit have already lost one promising talent to Liverpool in recent years, with Harvey Elliott joining the Reds in the summer of 2019.
Liverpool have now revived their interest in Carvalho, as advanced by Sky Sports on Sunday.
They are keen to avoid losing another future star and boss Silva, formerly coach of Everton, has adapted a bullish stance and believes Carvalho may pen a new deal at the club.
Fulham boss Silva told reporters on Friday: "Fabio will be with us until the end of the season.
"I would like to see him here for more years.
"From day one I have been trying to keep him. It is not a surprise that clubs are interested in Fabio. We are talking about a young player with big talent.
"The situation is not easy because he is in the last year of his contract, but that is the reality. It is out of our plans for him to leave the club in this window.
"It has been difficult for us to renew with him, but we are trying.
"It is always difficult with a player of this talent - even with a contract it is difficult to keep him, and without it is even worse. But Fabio will be with us until the end of this season."
Carvalho was signed by Benfica as an eight-year-old but joined London-based Balham three years later before being snapped up by Fulham’s youth academy in 2014.
