Liverpool line-ups as Darwin Nunez starts with more changes against Fulham

Paul Gorst - Nunez starts as Jones and Elliott go again

So no Thiago Alcantara for the rest of the season as he joins Stefan Bajcetic on the list of those whose campaigns are now over through injury at Liverpool.

With five games left for the Reds, they can put a bit of pressure on Manchester United in fourth tonight with three points ahead of their own visit to Brighton tomorrow. Champions League hopes may be slim but they are still alive, so this is a big night really. Might United feel the heat on the south coast if that gap is reduced to just four?

In defence, I'm sticking largely with what has helped Liverpool put four successive wins together. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk start alongside full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson. Alisson Becker is in goal, obviously.

In midfield, I am keeping Curtis Jones in there. I think the England Under-21 international has been excellent in the last five weeks or so and Alexander-Arnold moving into midfield allows Jones to shuffle off to the left to free up space, which is where he can hurt teams.

I am also keeping faith with Harvey Elliott for this one alongside Fabinho and resting up Jordan Henderson for another second-half cameo at some stage.

Up top, Diogo Jota is carrying a back injury and Luis Diaz ran himself into the ground on his first start for over six months against Tottenham so this is a night for Darwin Nunez to come in alongside Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Elliott, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.

Ian Doyle - Henderson and Matip return to action

Another day and another game nearer the end of a seemingly interminable season.

Fulham are the visitors to Anfield this evening in the Premier League where they won 1-0 on their last visit, although that was in front of no supporters.

Liverpool probably won't finish in the top four, but a top-six berth will ensure Europa League qualification and that has to be the aim now.

But there should be changes from Jurgen Klopp this evening.

Andy Robertson wasn't great against Tottenham at the weekend but can keep his place at left-back in a defence where Alisson Becker is in goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold is right-back and Virgil van Dijk is at centre-back. However, I'd have Joel Matip back in to partner the Dutchman.

In midfield, another switch with Jordan Henderson coming in for Harvey Elliott, to join Curtis Jones and anchorman Fabinho.

Up top, Luis Diaz can't be expected to start two games in a few days so Darwin Nunez is on the left, with Cody Gakpo down the middle and Mohamed Salah on the right.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.

Theo Squires - Tsimikas gets a start to rest Robertson

With Liverpool playing the second of three home games in the space of a week, expect a couple of changes from Jurgen Klopp for the visit of Fulham.

Andy Robertson wasn't at his best against Fulham so Kostas Tsimikas comes in at left-back. The rest of the back five is unchanged as the inverted full-back system continues.

Fabinho has played a lot of football recently so he can drop to the bench, with Jordan Henderson returning as the deeper midfielder. Harvey Elliott can keep his place against his former side, with the in-form Curtis Jones making up the midfield.

And with Diogo Jota struggling with a knock, Darwin Nunez can come back into the starting XI on the left. Luis Diaz did nothing wrong when marking his first start since returning from a serious knee injury with a goal against Tottenham, but Liverpool still need to manage him carefully after such a lengthy lay-off.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Elliott, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.

Keifer MacDonald - Diaz unleashed as Nunez starts

Heading into Wednesday's Premier League clash against Fulham, Liverpool find themselves soaring up the standings as one of the division's most in-form sides after a six-game unbeaten run.

The most recent of those outings, of course, came on Sunday afternoon as the Reds edged a seven-goal thriller with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. That victory was the start of a crucial run of three home games in six games for the Reds, with Fulham's visit to Merseyside followed by that of Brentford just three days later.

It is therefore expected that Jurgen Klopp will ring the changes this evening.

Alisson Becker, unsurprisingly, starts between the sticks.

At the back, it's more of the same as Trent Alexander-Arnold continues his recent rival in his unique inverted full-back role alongside Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk. However, after starting the last five games for the Reds and subsequently looking sluggish against Spurs, Andy Robertson is replaced by Kostas Tsimikas for this one.

In midfield, with the news that Thiago Alcantara will miss the remainder of the Premier League season due to needing surgery on a hip issue, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott start as the two No.8s ahead of Fabinho.

In attack, with Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino missing, the compact schedule sees Darwin Nunez handed his first start league since April 4 as he replaces Cody Gakpo at the tip of the attack. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz keep their places on the right and left flanks respectively.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
