Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard explains how it felt watching Jordan Henderson lift Champions League trophy

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has revealed how he felt watching Jordan Henderson lead the Reds to Champions League glory in Madrid.

Henderson inherited the captain's armband upon Gerrard's departure from the club in 2015.

And the 39-year-old who won the trophy with Liverpool in 2005 was watching on inside Atletico Madrid's stadium as his former team-mate lifted the Reds sixth European Cup.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Rangers boss said: "How could I be jealous of Jordan lifting the trophy? He’s my mate.

"I am tight with Jordan and we played together for many years with Liverpool and England.

"I was delighted for him and it was so deserved, there is no better professional than Jordan.

"You get out of this game what you put in, so if you go on that then he certainly deserves it."

Liverpool have had just two permanent skippers since 2003 in the shape of Gerrard and Henderson, and both men have won the Champions League title.
