Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher responds to Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo's snub

Jamie Carragher has responded to claims he was snubbed by Cristiano Ronaldo for ‘getting it right from day one’.

The Manchester United striker was benched for his side’s 2-1 win against the Reds on Monday night amid claims he wants to leave the club. Carragher – along with fellow pundits Gary Neville and Roy Keane – have been vocal in their criticism of the 37-year-old since he returned to Old Trafford last summer.

Ronaldo made a surprise appearance live on Sky Sports’ coverage of the clash, greeting former teammates Neville and Keane while blanking Carragher – much to the enjoyment of the two former Red Devils and social media. But the former Liverpool defender has hit back, explaining how he was ‘getting it right on Ronaldo from day one’ and that Erik Ten Hag’s decision to drop the Portugal striker proves him right.

Following the incident, Carragher tweeted: “I get a custard pie for getting it right on Ronaldo from day one!

“The custard pie for him from ETH [Erik ten Hag] shows the manager thinks the same!!

“Maybe the ex-Man United legends (sycophants!) will now agree with me.”

The Sky Sports pundit looked to offer Ronaldo his microphone in an attempt to steal a spontaneous interview after the veteran goalscorer vowed to clear up the media ‘lies’ regarding his future – claiming he had a notebook of over 100 stories of which only five were true.

Neville had already called Ronaldo out on Twitter, urging the Manchester United forward to speak out now instead of letting it sit. Presenter Dave Jones also asked the striker if he wanted to ask some questions during his surprise appearance on Monday Night Football, but his offer fell on deaf ears.
