Liverpool key star returns for Tottenham clash but Conte boosted as Klopp loses go-to stalwart

Tottenham are back in Premier League action this weekend as they host Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. It marks a quick turnaround for the side heading into their final few matches before the mid-season break for the World Cup, with barely enough time to catch their breath from the chaos of midweek.

Last time out, everything was on the line in the Champions League as Spurs had to avoid defeat away at Marseille to confirm a place in the knockout rounds. It didn't start well as first Son Heung-Min was substituted for a head injury before Chancel Mbemba gave the home side the lead.

Clement Lenglet equalised before a flurry of attacks crashed into their defence, standing firm before a quick counter and eventual winner from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in injury time confirmed top spot in their group. While it was a huge occasion, the focus quickly has to shift to facing the Reds.

While Spurs have faced a relative injury crisis of their own in recent weeks, few have been hit harder than Liverpool from the start of the season. While that isn't solely to blame, it could be one of the reasons they find themselves in ninth with just four wins from their opening 12 games.

"It starts with injuries then the problem is that the players who have no injuries have to play too often and then the players that do have the injuries," Jurgen Klopp said on his side's difficult start to the season. "They come back and play too early very often, that's how it is."

In a boost to the German coach, Jordan Henderson is set to make a return to the squad, having faced a spell out. The England international plays an often understated role in the team, covering the positions left by Trent Alexander-Arnold that allow him to make more progressive runs and impact the pitch in attacking areas.

The right-back has come under plenty of scrutiny for his defending as of late, however the addition of Henderson could help alleviate some of that pressure. It remains to be seen if it's too soon for his inclusion though, which could be a huge blow as James Milner is set to miss the clash.

The stalwart has been a go-to player for Klopp over the years, adding solidity and experience to his setup when it's needed.
