Liverpool: Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate set for new deals but 'big three' wait goes on

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with both Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah over new and improved long-term contracts at the club.

That is according to multiple outlets, who report that a new deal for Quansah is further along, and could even be announced during the current international break.

The England Under-21 star has enjoyed a meteoric rise with the Reds since his first-team debut away at Newcastle in August of last year. He has made 35 senior appearances to date, scoring three times, and a salary rise is likely to reflect his standing in Arne Slot’s squad.

Quansah started the first game of the new Premier League season away at Ipswich, but was substituted at half-time for Konate, who has since made the position his own, helping early leaders Liverpool to the best defensive record in the Premier League so far alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.

With just two years left on his current deal, the Reds will be hoping to lock down the French international for the prime years of his career, and avoid the situation they currently find themselves in with Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and, most worryingly, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three players are into the final year of their current Anfield deals, and, while talks are ongoing, Alexander-Arnold has been increasingly linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.
