A fresh injury blow has come at a bad time for Liverpool.
During the win over Newcastle on Monday, Dominik Szoboszlai picked up a hamstring issue - just as Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo leave for the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup.
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the setback, while recent updates have also been provided on Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic.
Alexis Mac Allister overcame his recent injury to return for the 4-2 victory at Anfield.
Here is your latest update of Liverpool injuries and return dates...
Dominik Szoboszlai
Hungarian midfielder Szoboszlai suffered a hamstring injury moments before a planned substitution in the second half of the win over Newcastle.
Liverpool will now assess him ahead of the cup double-header against Arsenal and Fulham.
Klopp said post-match: “We wanted to take him off, that was the plan, but unfortunately it was somehow a minute late because in the last situation he felt his hamstring. Now we don’t know the extent of it, obviously, so we have to wait.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Andrew Robertson
It has been almost three months since Robertson suffered a shoulder injury on Scotland duty, which required surgery.
Liverpool have been careful not to put a return date on the left-back and will hope to avoid rushing him back despite Tsimikas' absence in that position.
Klopp said last week that Robertson is "not close" to being involved in training but a recent report by Football Insider claimed he has made good progress on his recovery, tipping him to make his playing comeback in a few weeks.
Potential return date: February 2024
Joel Matip
Experienced defender Matip may have played his final game for the club after picking up a serious knee injury at the start of December.
He is expected to miss several months of action, almost certainly over running his contract expiring in June.
Liverpool's last update came following a successful operation with the club stating: "No timescale is currently being placed on his recovery."
Potential return date: Summer/Autumn 2024
Kostas Tsimikas
It is not known whether Tsimikas will be able to play again this season after he suffered a broken collarbone against Arsenal.
Klopp said the Greek full-back should be out for "a long time" following the blow.
Potential return date: Spring/summer 2024
Thiago Alcantara
Liverpool could be able to call upon Thiago for the first time this season in the coming weeks, with a return to full training planned this month.
Out since the spring of 2023 with a hip issue, Reds boss Klopp said ahead of the Newcastle game: "Thiago is in a very good moment but we just have to make sure we don't use him too early."
Potential return date: February 2024
Stefan Bajcetic
Liverpool are having to manage 19-year-old Bajcetic's comeback from injury carefully, Klopp said last week, amid a higher-than-normal threat of it being aggravated due to his young age - despite the fact the player feels ready to return.
He explained: "It’s a growing issue, it’s not [getting worse] but because of his growing, his age and stuff like this. So we just have to be careful. He could train today fully and then maybe tomorrow as well and then not [for] five weeks. It’s a medical decision, it’s not by the boy, it’s not by me."
Potential return date: Unknown
Ben Doak
Young winger Doak tore the meniscus in his knee last month, an injury which required an operation.
A long spell on the sidelines is now expected.
