Liverpool injury news: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip ruled out of action in fresh blow

Liverpool’s injury problems deepened on Tuesday as a fresh double blow emerged.

With Luis Diaz having already been ruled out of weeks of action with a knee injury picked up in Sunday’s loss to Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp’s options were looking increasingly bare.

While Liverpool appeared to be moving out of the mini injury crisis to have derailed their start to the season, Diaz has joined Arthur Melo in the treatment room and bad news has emerged on the defensive front.

Both Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out of action for between two and three weeks, missing some key games in Liverpool’s season.

Wednesday sees Klopp take his side to Rangers in the Champions League before a huge Premier League clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

Klopp is then offered some slightly more favourable-looking games as October rolls in as West Ham travel to Anfield before a trip to Nottingham Forest.

Still, with injury problems mounting amid some disappointing form, Liverpool are struggling to match their previous heights and missing more key players has to be considered a blow.
