Monday's performance against Everton was much more like the Liverpool we have grown accustomed to seeing in recent years.
It wasn’t the most flamboyant performance, but the players competed. We had leadership in the middle of the park with Jordan Henderson in there and the midfield was strong and compact, which hasn't been the case with Keita and Thiago in there in the last few games.
The big thing for me was the togetherness of the team, above all else. The defence, midfield and attack have looked completely disjointed in recent weeks but we were unified against Everton. The commitment and desire to fight for the right to play was there, and you couldn't knock them.

What that win will do is instil confidence and belief in the players because some were still lacking that in the first half against Everton. It was also an important night for Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, whose goals will lift the pressure they have come under of late for not scoring.
As great as it was to see us back among the goals, Monday night belonged to one player in particular: Stefan Bajcetic. While it is clear we still need to sign at least two midfielders during the summer transfer window as we prepare for the seemingly inevitable exits of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bajcetic could effectively serve as summer signing in his own right.
He is a player for both the present and the future, and I'm sure we will be seeing much more of him beyond this season. Although Bajcetic is young and still needs time to grow, he will become a top player if he keeps on going the way he is right now. You would imagine he will only get better because he has the right temperament and seems to be taking everything in his stride.
Don't expect the same Newcastle we saw in August on Saturday
If we can go to St James’ Park on Saturday and get a result, the feel-good factor will well and truly be back. It’s all about getting clean sheets and seeing where it takes us. You can’t go to Newcastle and defend in the same way we have in recent away games, or we’re back to square one. We have got to go there, fight tooth and nail and pick them apart.
We are going there as a wounded animal and they will be smelling blood, so don't expect to see them using the same awful tactics we saw at Anfield back in August. They got what they deserved in the 98th minute as they were wasting so much time that day. They have some really exciting players, who we will have to work to contain.
