Liverpool have 10-goal Bundesliga striker 'on the list' as Jurgen Klopp hints at January signings

Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, according to reports in Germany.

Fussball Transfers claims the Reds have the 25-year-old 'on the list' as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options in January. Thuram has enjoyed another outstanding season in the Bundesliga so far, scoring 10 goals in 15 games as his Gladbach side sit in eighth place.

Such form has attracted interest from Europe's top clubs, with Bayern Munich seeing the French international as a back-up option to Harry Kane next summer - a striker they have been long-time admirers of. Thuram's contract at Gladbach runs out in the summer, leaving the German outfit with a decision to make: Sell in January or risk losing on a free come June.

Several teams across the continent will be monitoring the situation regarding one of the Bundesliga's most in-form goalscorers, given they may be able to lure him away on a free come the summer. And according to the report, Liverpool are one of those clubs.

Speaking after Saturday's 3-1 win at home to Southampton - a match in which current leading man Darwin Nunez scored twice - Klopp hinted at potential activity in January as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a hopeful Champions League push in the second half of the season.

“We are always open to these kind of things, but we don’t have to open this discussion now,” Klopp said after Saturday's win. “If there is something possible we will do it but the door is open and we are open as well.

“It is not about wanting. We want to improve the team all the time, we just believe in the training ground we can do it there.”
