Liverpool goalscorer Fabinho gives brilliant response to Burnley "chances" question

Liverpool clinched a hard fought three points against Burnley on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't one of the Reds' hotshot forwards that delivered the victory.

Cold, blustery weather produced difficult playing conditions for both sides but it was Jurgen Klopp's men who prevailed once again thanks to a solitary goal from Fabinho just before half time.

The Brazilian was alert in the box as a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner was flicked into his path by the head of Sadio Mane and although his initial effort was saved, Fabinho was able to quickly turn home the rebound.

And for a player who is usually renowned for his defensive qualities in the middle of the park, the goal at Turf Moor was his fifth in seven matches - his hottest goal streak for the Reds since joining in the summer of 2018 - helping Liverpool to keep up the pressure on Manchester City

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Fabinho said: "We have to try to win every game and before we next play them [Manchester City] we have the chance to be next to them."

Talking about his sixth goal of the season, he added: "Yeah, really impressive! I always try to help the team.

"When you score goals you are always confident the ball will come to you."

And in a clip released by DAZN, Fabinho pulled a priceless face when it was put to him that Burnley had "a lot of chances".

"Yeah?", he asked quizzically. "Nah not really." Before adding: "Yes, yes, yes...a couple".

Fabinho's prolific goal scoring form started on January 9, when he netted twice against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

He went on the grab further singles against Brentford at Anfield on January 16 and away to Crystal Palace a week later, completing a successful first month to the year in front of goal.

But his close range conversion against Sean Dyche's team today may be the most important yet.

Plenty of appreciation for the talented Brazilian has been shared on Twitter, unsurprisingly with wife Rebeca Tavares leading the way.

And lots of fans agreed.

@_SeanLFC also tweeted: "Fabinho's 5th goal in his last 7 games saves the day for us. He deserves a proper belter of a song!"

Kopites will be hoping that Fabinho can keep his purple patch going, as Liverpool's midfield looks to the support their forward line with the additional goals required to keep their title chase alive.
