Roberto Firmino offered 'lucrative deal' as Liverpool contract near ends

Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr have set their sights on Roberto Firmino and could be set to tempt the Liverpool star with a lucrative offer.

Firmino's current contract with the Reds runs out at the end of the season with speculation that the 31-year-old forward may call time on a glittering eight-year spell on Merseyside. The summer saw the £64million arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica with the 23-year-old seen as the obvious successor to lead Liverpool's line for years to come and Firmino expected to take on a less central role.

But an impressive start to the new season has seen the Brazilian lead Liverpool's scoring chart in the Premier League and help the club through a poor spell without disaster. Such form has led to calls for an extension of his stay at Anfield, and reports earlier this week that Firmino will be offered a new deal imminently were welcomed among Reds fans.

Despite those reports that fresh terms are in the offing, and confirmation from Jurgen Klopp in November that talks are underway, Firmino would still be able to enter a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club come January if a new contract is not signed by then. And, according to The Mirror , Al-Nassr seemingly hope they can convince the strikerof a move to Dubai.

The Riyadh-based club believe a combination of uncertainty regarding regular minutes at Liverpool, plus a hugely lucrative offer coming from themselves, could convince Firmino to sign one more big-money deal before retirement.

Several well-known players already play for Al-Nassr including David Ospina, Luis Gustavo and Cameroon's Vincent Aboubakar. They have also been linked with a major deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo across to Dubai, touted in some reports to be worth £200million-per-year - a claim denied by the Portuguese veteran.

Firmino's omission from the Brazil squad for the World Cup means he is currently in Dubai with the Reds squad. Klopp's side flew out for a warm weather training camp and will play two friendlies against Lyon and AC Milan - the former of which is at 2pm this afternoon.
