Liverpool fixtures and dates confirmed for Dubai Super Cup in December

Liverpool will join Arsenal in taking part in a four-team tournament in Dubai as part of their preparations for the second part of the season after the World Cup.

The Reds will compete for the Dubai Super Cup when they first play against Lyon on Sunday, December 11 (kick-off 2pm) and then take on Serie A champions AC Milan on Friday, December 16 (kick-off 3.30pm).

They will not face Arsenal during the competition, with all games taking place at the 15,000-capacigty Al-Maktoum Stadium and being shown live on LFC TV.

Liverpool players not involved in the World Cup at nearby Qatar will spend 12 days in the United Arab Emirates as part of a warm-weather training camp, with the season resuming with the Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Manchester City on Thursday, December 22 (kick-off 8pm). Those taking part in the World Cup will join up with their club-mates once their nation's participation in the tournament is over.

Games at the Dubai Super Cup will see teams awarded three points for a victory and two for a draw. After each match will be a penalty shoot-out, where a bonus point will be awarded for the winners. Runaway Premier League leaders Arsenal will play Lyon on December 8 and Milan on December 13.

Liverpool have played AC Milan in four competitive games, winning the 2005 Champions League final and then losing the rematch two years later. They beat the Italian side home and away in the Champions League group stage last season, and have also won three friendly games.

And they have faced Lyon twice, drawing in France in the Champions League group stage in 2009 but then beaten by a last-minute goal in the Anfield return. Their last meeting was in a friendly in Geneva in 2019 which the Reds won 3-1.
