Liverpool featured twice in the top 10 in the list of most expensive transfers in 2022.
FIFA's 2022 Global Transfer Report, which details the most expensive international transfers for last year, includes the moves to bring Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz to Anfield, two deals that had a potential combined value, if add-ons are reached, of £134m. They feature at second and ninth on the list.
Nunez arrived last summer from Benfica in a deal worth an initial £64m that could eventually rise to £85m, while Diaz was another to be brought in from Portuguese football, signing from Porto in a deal that could be worth up to £49m including add-ons. The initial fee for the Colombian was £37m.

Topping the list was the move that Real Madrid made to land last summer's Liverpool target Aurelien Tchouameni, with the Spanish side paying more than £85m to land the Frenchman from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco. Also on the list were Manchester United's moves for Antony and Casemiro (third and fourth respectively), along with the deals for Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus to Bayern Munich (fifth), Ferran Torres' switch from Manchester City to Barcelona (sixth), Erling Haaland's move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City (seventh), Alexander Isak's switch to Newcastle United from Real Sociedad (eighth), and the deal to take Raphinha from Leeds United to Barcelona (ninth).
English clubs spent £1.78bn, a figure more than three times higher than that of any other country, according to the report, while Italian clubs were second on the list, having spent a total of £543m.
The top 10 most expensive moves accounted for 12.5% of the total £5.24bn spent on such transfer fees.
Liverpool were third on the list when it came to transfer spend in 2022, with Manchester United top and Barcelona second. Bayern Munich, Newcastle, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City made up the rest of the top 10.
