Liverpool have been handed a £37,500 fine after their players surrounded referee Simon Hooper during their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City earlier this month.
Jurgen Klopp's side travelled to the Etihad on Saturday, April 1 and despite taking to the lead through Mohamed Salah, they lost thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish. The incident that led to the fine took place during the first half when several visiting players surrounded Hooper after Rodri fouled Cody Gakpo in the Reds' half.
The Spaniard had just been booked for a similar foul and the Liverpool players were adamant he should have been sent off. Once the away team had fled the scene, Hooper chose to give Rodri a final warning and he would remain on the pitch without further caution.

In a statement, the FA confirmed that Liverpool had admitted to the charge they were faced with. "Liverpool FC has been fined £37,500 after its players surrounded the match official during the 34th minute of their Premier League against Manchester City FC on Saturday, April 1," the Twitter post read.
"The club admitted failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and do not behave in a way that is improper. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed Liverpool FC's fine following a subsequent hearing."
After losing to City at the beginning of the month, Klopp's men would do City a favour last weekend against Arsenal at Anfield. A late Roberto Firmino goal saw the Gunners drop points allowing the Blues to move within six of the leaders.
