Ian Rush has explained the reason why the Grand National is special
The Liverpool FC legend attended Aintree Racecourse today for the iconic steeplechase. It was the first time the Reds' all time top goal scorer had attended the races in 8 years and he was impressed with how it has changed.
He said: "I always used to come when I was a player. It was magical then and looking at it now, it's updated and there's more people and it's just unbelievable."

The 61-year-old has been to racecourses all over the country but he explained what made Aintree stand out. He said: "The people make this.
"When you go out to watch Liverpool play, everyone talks about the atmosphere. This is just the atmosphere of horse racing in Liverpool. The people make it."
Glorious sunshine arrived for the final day of the 2023 meeting after rainy conditions yesterday. However, racegoers refused to let the poor weather dampen their spirit and Rush said this is testament to the people of this city.
He said: "Even yesterday when the weather wasn't great, everyone was enjoying themselves and they make a big party out of it. They're so friendly and that's what makes Liverpool so special."
Rush backed the Big Breakaway in the main race, but lost out after Corach Rambler was crowned the winner of this year's Grand National.
