Liverpool fans were disheartened to see Joe Gomez limp off in their team’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday night.
The defender has had rotten luck with long-term injuries during his time at Anfield. He was being played at right-back by Jurgen Klopp, who named a weakened side against the Saints on Tuesday following their FA Cup triumph on Saturday.
Gomez has been used as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s back-up with Neco Williams out on loan at Championship champions Fulham for the season. Whether or not he would be selected to play on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday is questionable, with the Reds praying for a Manchester City slip up against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa.

However, Liverpool have found out most this term that there is strength in numbers. Klopp will want a fully fit squad ahead of his side’s two biggest games of the campaign.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, he said: “I hope we are lucky. Joe himself has pain but not too much.”
Now, the Liverpool Echo reports that scan results have confirmed that there are no signs of serious damage and he could feature in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Gomez will have to wait until the swelling settles before figuring out whether he will be ready for the final but he could be in contention. However, the swelling means he is unlikely to be fit for Sunday as a result of the collision.
City know a win over the Villa will see them lift the trophy, while anything less opens the door for Liverpool to nip in and claim the crown with a win over Wolves.
