Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has defended Manchester City's Erling Haaland following his performance in the Community Shield on Saturday.
The Reds took the lead through Trent Alexander-Arnold before Julian Alvarez equalised in the second 45 minutes after a VAR check. Liverpool would go on to win the first silverware of the season in the last ten minutes though.
Mohamed Salah made it 2-1 from the penalty spot after a Ruben Dias handball and Darwin Nunez wrapped it up in stoppage time with a close range header. Haaland missed the opportunity to score a consolation when he hit the bar from a few yards out.

The 22-year-old also missed a half chance in the opening stages which would go on to sum the match up for the Blues. Haaland has come in for some criticism on social media for the performance, however Carragher believes was quick to stick up for the striker.
In a tweet, he said: "The Haaland banter compilations will be everywhere this week after that miss, just like Nunez last week. From [clown emoji] who have never kicked a ball in their life."
